HOW TO APPLY


Please be aware that the visa application process can take a considerable amount of time and that it is your own responsibility to apply well in advance. You may submit your visa application 3 months before your departure date to Denmark.

All applicants are required to appear in person.

DIFFERENT STEPS TO APPLY IN VISA APPLICATION CENTER

Step 1

The Visa Application Center is only responsible for receiving your application and giving back your passport after your application has been processed. The Visa Application Center does not have a say on whether your visa will be granted and how long it will take to process your application, as this is entirely the prerogative of the Danish Representative Office in Ramallah.

Step 2

Complete your visa application form and affix your photograph. You may download the form from this website. Also, please mention name along with surname of father and spouse, if applicable. Please ensure that you furnish all the required documents, you may download document a checklist from this website. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Step 3

All applicants applying for an airport transit or short stay Schengen visa of maximum 3 months (for business, for cultural or sport events, for tourism, for visiting family or friends, for training) may submit their application at the Denmark Visa Application Centre.

Step 4

All applicants are required to make an appointment in order to have the application accepted. If your residence is in the Gaza strip, you must to apply in Gaza City

WHAT TO BRING FOR APPOINTMENT?

Please make sure that you have the necessary supporting documents (please read carefully, print and use this checklist for the visa Schengen applications: Checklist or required documents for Schengen Visa. For the residence permit, please check:  Step 1 – Know your visa type / Long stay visa (type D).

Please note that the Danish Representative Office cannot start processing the application before all supporting documents have been received. The application is formally registered on the date you submit your passport with all the relevant supporting documents.

DURING THE APPOINTMENT (SCHENGEN VISA)

The process is the following:

  • First the Visa Application Center Officer in Gaza checks all documents received and your application will be registered in the system.
  • If you have not been to Schengen before, the Visa Application Center Officer will scan your fingerprints and take a photo of you. It is a simple and discreet procedure that only takes a few minutes, and the collected data will be stored in a secure central database for almost five years (59 months).
  • At the end, the Visa Application Center Officer receives the visa fees and you will get a receipt.

Two or three days later the consular officer in Ramallah will conduct a personal interview with you (and your parents if you are minor) To understand the purpose of your intended visit to Denmark: This interview is done by video Skype at the Visa Application Center Officer in Gaza.

PROCESSING TIME

For Schengen visa (short stay)

Applications shall be decided on within 15 calendar days of the date of the receiving of an (admissible) application at the Danish Representative Office in Ramallah. That period may be extended up to a maximum of 30 calendar days e.g. if the application is submitted to the Danish immigration service. Exceptionally, when additional documentation is needed in specific cases, the period may be extended up to a maximum of 60 days.

Citizens of certain countries or categories of certain citizens are subject to prior consultation in one or more Schengen countries before a visa may be issued. The processing time in these cases will usually be 10-12 days as a minimum.

GOOD PRACTICES

Travelling with a group

If you are a member of a group travelling together to Denmark, the Faroe Islands, Greenland or Iceland, it is important that all members of the group apply on the same day. Before showing up at the Danish Representative Office in Ramallah or the Visa Application Center in Gaza you need to call in order to make an appointment. Each applicant of the group will be received separately by the consular worker.

Minors

If you are under the age of 18, you need to bring your birth certificate, documentation of your parents’ consent as well as copies of both of your parent´s  passports or ID cards.

If you are under the age of 18 and if your parents are not travelling with you, your application must be signed by your parent and both parents must appear in person during your application appointment.
